Her Majesty The Queen calling by at St Barnabas on Derby Day, 6 th June 2009 to mark St Barnabas Centenary.
On Derby Day the Queen on the way home from the racing called at St Barnabas Church, Temple Road, Epsom to mark the centenary of the building of the church. A large crowd of local people greeted the Queen with three cheers as she was presented with a bouquet of red and white roses – traditional for St Barnabas the Apostle.
Afterwards everyone went into the church for tea and cakes and to see the photo exhibition showing the changes from the first building of the church in 1909 to the very distinctive modern glass extension built in 2004.



HM Queen Elizabeth at St Barnabas Church, Temple Road, Epsom to mark the centenary of the church, those that were there to meet her were Rev. Michael Preston, vicar of the parish along with Rev. Sue Bull, Epsom Mental Health Chaplain from Surrey and Borders partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Anabel Hindmarsh (8) and Grace Jansen (5) who presented the posey to her majesty, along with parishioners Marie Lambert and Kuhan Satkunanayagam who were presented to HM Queen.
