24/7 Prayer Week
2009
There is a 24/7 Prayer Week being organised for all the Churches at St
Barnabas Church who celebrate their 100 years of mission and ministry in
Epsom.
This week will
be 12th - 19th September 2009.

A week of non-stop
prayer for Epsom this will be an opportunity for us together to be with God and to
pray for our community in all its aspects.
As well as coming to the
24/7 prayer room at St Barnabas Church for an hour of prayer, we are all
invited to pray for 10 minutes in Epsom town centre.
Of course, people can
pray at any time, but to be certain that we keep this chain of prayer going
for the whole week, night and day there will be a schedule for the1 hour
time slots in the 24/7 prayer room.
Each Church has an
agent who will be speaking to the congregation early in September and will
know the times that are allocated to your Church.
Those that are
praying at the 24/7 prayer Room during the night will need to know the
combination of the lock and how to enter the Church – that will be given to
you by your agent.
24/7 Week of Prayer –
This
event took place again. The total costs of £300, £200 had
already been covered. Meg Murrant advised that two members of their
congregation felt intimidated when they did night slots as there were groups
of youths outside. Also for the early morning slots the church was not
open. It was established that there had been some confusion about the start
time, which had been changed to 8 am. Praying in the town centre was
discussed and Adrian Heafford commented that people wished to know where
they could do this. Using an empty shop premises was an appealing idea but
impractical, gazebos might get damaged. We could place a large banner on
the clock tower. Perhaps we could have a caravan or bus from 9 to 5 during
the week. This would be refreshing for non church goers and a way of
providing a quiet space. The proposal is therefore made that we consider an
enclosed space in the the town. This requires further thought.
